Data Deletion
Ocean Drop (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your right to control your personal data. This page explains exactly how to delete your account, what data is removed, and what happens to connected partners.
1. How to Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the Ocean Drop app. Follow these steps:
- Open the Ocean Drop app.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Scroll down to the Delete Account section.
- Tap the “Delete Account” button.
- Confirm the first prompt: “Are you sure you want to delete your account?”
- Confirm the second prompt: “This is permanent and cannot be undone.”
- Your account and all associated data are permanently deleted immediately.
There is no cooling-off period. Once you confirm the second prompt, the deletion is instant and irreversible.
2. What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we perform a full cascade deletion across our database. The following data is permanently removed:
- Authentication account — your Supabase auth record (email, credentials, session tokens).
- Profile data — name, settings, preferences, and push notification token.
- All period logs — cycle start dates, flow intensity, and cycle history.
- All calendar events — personal events and shared events with your partner.
- All chat messages — every conversation with Drop and Marina, including message history.
- All mood journal entries — mood, energy, and symptom records.
- All daily plans and feedback — generated plans and your feedback responses.
- All achievement records — streaks, milestones, and progress data.
- All phase transition records — historical phase change data.
Nothing is retained. Once deletion completes, we hold no data associated with your account.
3. Partner Impact
If you have a connected partner at the time of deletion:
- Your partner's
partner_idis set to null, which disconnects the partner sync. - Your partner is not notified that you deleted your account — they will only see that the sync was disconnected.
- Your partner's own data remains completely intact and unaffected.
If you do not have a connected partner, no other accounts are affected by your deletion.
4. Data Export Before Deletion
Before deleting your account, you have the right to request a copy of your personal data under GDPR Article 20 (right to data portability).
To request a data export, email us at contact@oceandrop.app with the subject line “Data Export Request.” We will provide your data in a machine-readable format within 30 days.
We recommend requesting your data export before initiating account deletion, as deleted data cannot be recovered.
5. Timeline
- In-app deletion: immediate and irreversible upon confirming the second prompt.
- Email-requested deletion: processed within 30 days of receiving the request.
- Data export requests: fulfilled within 30 days.
